Friday, I had the honor of attending TEDxDetroit 2012 “Positive Ideas for the World, from Detroit.” I went alone and felt a bit like the new kid at school without a place in the cafeteria. The first person I introduced myself to was a former speaker. He used words that were so far outside my lexicon I felt like I was in a bad dream. I hightailed it over to the coffee line, hoping that caffeine would improve my IQ.
It was in line that I met a few more people. All very nice and far less intimidating. Many people, like myself, were there for the first time. We had no idea what to expect. The online TED videos are always inspirational. They make me want to run out and change the world. Would Detroit speakers do the same?
Abso-freakin-lutely. I left wanting to play a bigger role in the betterment of Detroit. By improving our city, we can change the world. One mower gang at a time. Maybe it was all that caffeine. I don’t know. Check out TEDxDetroit blog and see what I mean.
With love from Detroit,
Callie
