Mother and son

Two years ago I had the remarkable and rewarding experience of giving birth to a gorgeous baby boy. I remember his “birth” day as though it was yesterday. I remember wanting to push and yelling at the doctor as he did his final check. I think my exact words were “If you tell me I am still 4cm I will punch you in the throat.” Seriously, I am not a violent person. He was just a casualty of labor.

On a far more sentimental note, I remember Ryan by my side, with me through everything, caring for me in the way a partner should. I remember him, so proud, calling our family. He shouted “We have a baby!” as Jack cried in the background. I remember family and friends arriving at the hospital and feeling almost euphoric as I watched all the love that surrounded our baby. Finally, I remember the first time I looked at our son and I knew it was the greatest love story of all time.

Two years later, the most rewarding part of having a “big boy” is that he is able to communicate. Every now and then, when he is snuggly and sweet, he will hold my face and whisper “I wub you mommy.” Which causes me giggle and tear up at the same time.  The feeling is indescribable.

Happy Birthday to the greatest gift I have ever received. I love you more than you could ever know.

With love from Detroit,

Callie
