What did you do on Sunday night?
Oh, me? I went to Salt and Cedar Letterpress in Eastern Market and bound a book in celebration of Oscar Wilde’s birthday. Why? What did you do?
Remember that dinner party I signed up for? Well, it was last night and it was phenomenal. We were greeted with prosecco, followed by stuffed peppers and fresh oysters. Dinner was lamb in a red wine and garlic reduction. My mouth is literally watering as I type.
After dinner, we used paper salvaged from an old press on 7 Mile to bind our own books. My book looks a little sloppy but I promise to love it just the same.
Every part of the evening was thoughtful from the salvaged paper to the porcelain bowls made to resemble Fort Detroit.
Sure the evening was a little different from my typical Sunday but I loved every minute of it. The dinner was a great way to meet new people and try new things. Events like this are what makes Detroit such a wonderful place to live and explore.
With love from Detroit,
Callie
