MINE!!!!!

Jack is having a bit of trouble sharing. We started this week with a trip to the Belle Isle Playscape.  There were only three other kids at this HUGE play area but anytime they came near him he would yell “MINE!”

I told him that we use words like “let’s play together” or “let’s share.” And if he continued to yell “MINE!” at his new friends, we would have to get in the car and go home. He responded with “wets… pway… tu-deder” said so painfully you would have thought the words were burning in his mouth.

Not sure if this was the “correct” way to parent but it seemed to work. We were able to make new friends and enjoy a beautiful day at the park. But I am always open to suggestions.*  What would you have done?
