No parent wants their child to feel lousy. Jack is sick and there is nothing I can do to fix it. So naturally, after he threw up in my bed, I cleaned him up, gave myself two minutes, hid in a corner and cried. Sometimes being a parent is just overwhelming and a secret two minute sob fest/pity party is completely 100% necessary and appropriate.
The selfishly enjoyable part of having a sick toddler is how snugly they become. Jack wants to be wrapped in my arms as much as possible. For a child who can be rather stingy with affection, I eat this up.
Of course, I would give it all up for him to feel like his rambunctious self again. But, for now, it’s a day of cold compresses, Sprout TV and mommy snuggles.
With love from Detroit,
Callie

Poor buddy 🙁 Feel better Jack and enjoy the cuddles Cal!
Feel better kiddo! He’s lucky he has such a great mom.
I love the photo of him. But don’t love that he was sick.
