A day at the zoo…almost

Monday morning the sun was shining and mother nature was calling our names. Not wanting to miss out on a much need dose of vitamin D, Jack and I headed to the Detroit Zoo.

The zoo in February is awesome. Primo parking and zero lines make for a very happy mommy and a happy Jack. The kid has been mostly cooped up for 3 months and the chance to run free was mind blowing.

After seeing frogs, camels, penguins and snakes, we decided to grab a bite before heading to the monkeys, giraffes, rhinos and more. It was in the cafeteria that all hope for a fun filled day at the zoo was lost. Jack went bananas, refusing to sit in his seat, yelling at other little kids to sit down in their seats, a reeeeal spectacle.

Finally, we finished our meal and were headed to the bathroom before continuing our fun filled day at the zoo or so I thought. Jack was WILD! Crawling all over the floor (gross), playing with the trash bins (disgusting), running away from me as though we were playing tag. The whole time he was misbehaving, he kept giving me a look like “what do you plan on doing about it lady?” I had no choice, we had to leave.

What a fail. Sometimes, I just need a reminder that I am not the only person on the planet with a wild two year old. I need to know that there are other mommies out there (daddies too) who feel like they have zero control as often as I do. If you have any words of wisdom, leave them below as I am open to any and ALL suggestions.

Mornings like this can be so draining. Then Jack does something super sweet and adorable and all is right in the world once again.

 Get ready for cuteness overload. After we got home from the zoo, we snuggled up for a nap. Jack wanted to kiss the baby. I told him the baby could hear him now and he leaned in to say “Hi baby. I Jack. I your big brother.” Here is the rest of our pre nap conversation.
