Looking through my past posts, I saw that this entry was still labeled “draft.” Not sure why I never posted this. The original date was Sept. 7, 2012. Better late than never I guess.
Friday morning Jack and I got a call from Ms. Frankie. She wanted us to meet her and Penelope, at the RiverFront. “Be there in 15 minutes Ms. Frances.” As soon as I told Jack of our plans he grinned and screamed “Poppy, Poppy, Poppy!” This is his sweet way of saying Penelope.
The two enjoyed some quality time on the playground but the real adventure was in the freedom of running down the Riverwalk. Initially the purpose of the run was to reach the water fountain but Jack quickly turned his attention to the historic naval ships docked outside of the Promenade.
As luck would have it, we bumped into a couple of neighbors. One of which, Charlie, is a boat aficionado. Thanks to Mr. Charlie, Jack can now add boom, mast and crows nest to his lexicon. Start ’em young, right?
When leaving, Jack spotted a man with an eye patch and yelled “Pie-wet Mommy. Argh.” Keep in mind, there was a man in a pirate costume by the ships that Jack ignored. It was the pedestrian he got excited about. Thankfully, the man was nice and seemed to get this response often. He said hello to Jack and then told me I was beautiful. I love the RiverWalk.
Our morning adventure crept into lunch time and we ended our trip with a ride on the Cullen Family Carousel.
Have I told you how much I love the RiverWalk?
With love from Detroit,
Callie
