Sunday Dinner Company

Tonight we celebrated my dad’s birthday. I asked him where he wanted to eat and he said he didn’t care as long as it met the following requirements.

• Wasn’t too fancy
• He hadn’t been there before
• Good reviews
• A place that was blog worthy (what a supportive father)

Keeping all this in mind, we settled on the Sunday Dinner Company. Ryan and I have driven past SDC a million times, always saying we should try it. Well, tonight was the night.

We didn’t realize the food was buffet style but were reassured when we were told that all fried foods are made to order and served fresh out of the fryer. The food reminded me of the time I spent teaching in Harlem. We would have potlucks for special occasions and I would bring cupcakes or cookies (usually store bought) and our PTA and other teachers would bring deep fried, homemade goodies that must have taken them all day to create.

Definitely worth the try but a little too heavy to become a regular dining location. Oh, and just a heads up, they don’t have any alcohol. But they do serve a mean sweet tea. 

I’m happy we tried something new. Now on to the next place. Any recommendations?
