Thank you.

Let me tell you a little story. Last year, my friend Jon helped my brother and sister-in-law move out of their home. Jon is a Marine who has served in two tours. He loves to help and can be counted on by everyone.

On this same move out day, my grandpa, Pablo, came to help. Grandpa and Jon had met before but on this day my grandpa was wearing his Korean War Veteran hat. As soon as Jon noticed the hat, he stood up, saluted my grandpa and said “thank you for your service to our country, sir.” My grandpa beamed and started to giggle (this is where my giggle comes from.)

Grandpa danced the night away at my brother's wedding. Someday I hope to be that cool.

Remember to say thank you to a veteran this weekend. It means more than you might think.

Thank you to all who serve and have served.

With love from Detroit,

Callie

Thank you for the constructive feedback. I have asked family and friends to let me know when they catch an error. Feel free to do the same.
