Loli Pants

Why we call our dog, Lola, “Loli Pants” is beyond me. Just like the reason we call Jack “Boogie Woogie Pants.” Wow, I just realized I must like “Pants” to be a part of nicknames. Weird.

Anyhow, I was thinking about Lola Loli Pants and Jack Boogie Woogie (Boogs or Bo Bo for short) and the relationship they have. When I was first pregnant, Lola would want to sleep on my belly. Usually a girl who needs her space, I think she knew something was up.

When Jack arrived Lola was curious and jealous. Poor girl was knocked right off her pedestal once he was in the picture. I think she realized the more time she spent with the baby, the more attention she received. That is when she became loving and protective.

Their first meeting

Today, Lola is still protective just more weary than loving.  Jack is a wild man who sometimes has one goal, find Lola. The pup is usually pretty quick so Jack has learned to be stealth. When he is able to sneak up on her he, ever so subtly, body slams a hug her way. Last week I saw him headed in her direction with a mischievous grin. I looked over and saw Lola unaware. I screamed in what seemed like slow motion “Looooolllaaaa, Ruuuuuunnn!!!!” I did the best I could but there was no stopping him.)

As Boogie learns more self control, I think we will see the two of them grow into life long friends. But!!! In the meantime, I will keep my role as protector of Loli Pants.
