Luck be a lady…

For those of you who don’t know, my husband is funny, talented, kind, smart and (lucky me) a fox. Now, because he is so awesome, we were invited to the grand opening of the new Horseshoe Casino in Cleveland, Ohio.

Neither of us are big gamblers, in fact we didn’t bet a penny all night, but the event was black tie and I couldn’t wait to attend.

First things first. Last month, I found the dress. The invite was black tie optional, so I was looking for cocktail length but fell in love with a long strapless number.

Now for the hair. We had driven all day to get there and while Ryan was at dinner with co-workers, I had a lot to do to go from this…

to this…

A little makeup, slap on the dress and viola! I am ready to party (even though the picture looks like I am ready to nap.)

There was a lot of shaking hands and small talk but I got to do it in a pretty dress with an open bar and free food. Who could complain?

The casino was like a little piece of Vegas in the Midwest. The decor inside was stunning and if the security wasn’t so heavy I would have confiscated one of the many chandeliers, or maybe the leather chairs in the VIP lounge, or the white leather ottomans, or maybe the artwork, or, well, you get the point. It was pretty.

I had a lot of fun in Cleveland but, as always, it is good to be home.

With love from Detroit,

Callie
