I think it’s pretty fair to call last fall’s break-in a “near death” experience. Since that day, I have done a lot of self reflecting. In fact, the very next day, mind racing, I decided to go for a run to be alone with my thoughts.
As I have mentioned before, running isn’t something I enjoy or do often. But while jogging through Indian Village, I started thinking about how I always wished I could be a runner. You know? Someone who loves to run. No. Scratch that. Someone who needs to run. Suddenly, it hit me “what the hell are you waiting for? Life is short. You could have died yesterday!!! If you want to be a runner, run dummy.”
After that delightful “pep talk” I came home and announced to Ryan “we are running the Detroit half marathon.” Without hesitation, he agreed* and now…gulp…we are in training.
Now, the question is, who’s with me?
With love from Detroit,
Callie
*I’m pretty sure at this point I could have asked for a pony and he would have said yes. Not just that. He would have helped me turn the carriage house back into a stable to accommodate my new equestrian life. Come to think of it, I really missed an opportunity here…

Way to go! I’m a beginning runner. But I’m shooting for a 10k this summer.
