“Wee-ooh wee ooh” is the affectionate name Jack has given all emergency vehicles. This started when he was too young to use real words and onomatopoeias were his go to (this was around the same time he gave his favorite stuffed monkey the name “Ah-ah” as in “Ooh-ooh Ah-ah”) As he has developed linguistically he started differentiating. There are now “Wee-ooh wee-ooh firetrucks”, “Wee-ooh wee-ooh police cars” and “Wee-ooh wee-ooh ambulances.”
This morning, a routine trip to Whole Foods brought Jack face to face with three Detroit firefighters. They recognized the awe in his face and asked if he wanted to hop into their firetruck. Bashful but elated he grinned and looked up at me for permission. We were running a little behind schedule, but how could I say no?
Just look at how happy this boy was. Thank you to the Detroit firefighters who made his whole week. You put your life on the line for us every day and still have time to make dreams come true. You are absolute heroes through and through.
With love from Detroit,
Callie

I think he made the firefighters day too. Look at the smile on Mr. Firefighters face. 🙂
