What I can tell you about Jack

As parents we know our children better than anyone else on the planet. We have an intimate understanding of each facial expression. We can anticipate reactions with great precision. We give our children healthy room to become independent and eventually find someone else to fulfill this role. But until then, they are yours. All yours.

This is what I know about MY almost two year old Little Boogie:

  • Jack’s favorite game in the world is jumping off of things. Very tall things. Things that make mommy’s heart skip a beat.
  • When Jack wakes up he needs his morning milk before anything can be accomplished.
He says “Jack’s milk. Mommy’s coffee.” Obviously, they are one in the same.
  • The promise of stickers excites Jack but he doesn’t actually like them to be stuck on him or anyone else.
  • “Ah-ah”, Jack’s stuffed monkey, has to be under his arm for him to fall asleep and with him at all times if he is sick.
  • Carrots and cucumbers are the only veggies I can get him to eat. Unless I hide them in some form of ground meat. Meatballs anyone?
  • When Jack knows he has done something naughty and senses you are upset, he smiles, waves and says “hi mommy.”
  • The kid is a linebacker. When navigating crowds at a Tiger’s game, if someone is about to run into him, he braces himself, takes position and head-butts their legs.

I could talk about this kid for hours (duh, I started a blog about him) but some things I think I will keep for myself. After all, he is mine all mine.

With love from Detroit,

Callie
