Last weekend Frankie and Matt took Penelope to Blake Farms Cider Mill. After hearing about the giant jumping pillow, petting zoo, orchard, train rides and donuts that were “so good you could go nuts,” the decision was easy. Our Friday field trip would be to Blake’s.
I did the responsible thing and called the Mill before driving an hour there and an hour back. “Are all your children’s rides open today?” I asked at 8:30 am. “Yes,” the woman on the other end answered. So when we got to the farm before 11 am and found that the rides do not open until 1 we were… annoyed.
We still had fun on the playground, feeding the animals, eating donuts, drinking cider and picking pumpkins. Our friend Julie came with us and Jack was thrilled to hold her hand and sit on her lap (shameless flirt.) The trip was by no means a waste. In fact, it was a learning experience. Next time, we will just have to go after Jack’s nap. That way we can also avoid all the school groups. Those kids are CRAZY!
With love from Detroit,
Callie

You went without moi?!
Sorry Lita.
That picture with the pumpkin is pretty great. I think it’s high time you guys took a field trip to North Carolina!
I agree. Now how do we get Ryan on board?
