Pumpkin Doodle

Growing up we had a family friend, Mary Sue, who would always call me her “Pumpkin Doodle.” As a child, I took great offense to this and would reply “I’m not the Pumpkin Doodle. You are!” Now that I am what some people consider an adult, I recognize the sentiment behind the nickname. Thanks Mary Sue.

Last week I let my little Pumpkin “doodle” (See what I did there?) I set Jack up with orange and yellow paints at our dining room table (aka a Costco folding table), covered it in newspaper and let him go to town.

At first he was thrilled to paint the pumpkin but quickly became more interested in brightening up Sundays Free Press article on the Kwame Kilpatrick case. I appreciate the meaningful message behind your art Jack. When life gives you discouraging news, paint it yellow.

With love from Detroit,

Callie
