As part of the Detroit Design Festival, the galleries and shops of Eastern Market stayed open until the wee hours on Thursday evening. We told our babysitter we would be back at a reasonable hour and when we came home at midnight were very apologetic. There was just too much fun to be had. It would have been impossible to leave early? (But seriously Meg, So sorry.)
Eastern Market After Dark was delightful. We took a neighborhood/family photo that made us all look like zombies (look friends, Matt ended up in the photo after all.) We discussed, at length, the potential for a Detroit Sardines League (the game, not the fish.) We had conversations we wouldn’t remember the following day and we even signed up for an expensive, private dinner hosted by one of the galleries. Oops.
Our friend/neighbor, Kat, was our DD for the evening. On our way home we had her pull over on Mack Ave. to let us out at the Elbow Lounge. It was here that we met our new friends Marilynn and Night Rider. Marilynn is a home care nurse and Night Rider is my new favorite Detroit DJ. When one of our neighbors requested a song (Beastie Boys, I believe) she chastised him and yelled “we don’t listen to that around here.” Let me tell you, you don’t mess with my friend Night Rider.
Oh, what an evening.
With love from Detroit,
Callie

Haha!! It was the PBR talking that night! Good times!
The PBR just doesn’t know when to shut up.
Great meeting you and looking forward to our fancy pants dinner.
