East Jordan

East Jordan, Michigan is a four hour drive from Detroit and well worth the travel. As far back as I can remember, a small chunk of my summer has been reserved for this quiet town on the south arm of Lake Charlevoix. Our family cabins sit on the water and fill me with memories of endless days where my cousins and I would play in the water until the sun went down. I remember going to the dinner table with a ferocious appetite, having played all day and been too busy to stop for anything (food included.)

Now, as a mother, I watch Jack play in the sand and lake with his cousin, Eve. He fishes with Grandpa, “skips” rocks from the dock and goes to bed exhausted from a full day of Pure Michigan. I cannot help but think of the warm memories he will have from Up North and the thought just melts me from the inside out.

With love from Detroit,

Callie

Heidi, just let me know the weekend and Jack and I are there. Heck, we can all go up during the week. Fall trip? Winter?

  3. It was an amazing thing to watch Jack and Eve together. I’m excited for Christmas.

They love each other. Jack asked the other day “Where’s Eve?” Mom told him Eve went home on an airplane. So he stuck is arms out to the side and ran around like an airplane. “Eve airplane.”
