Who is Dennis Gilbert?

Last week I went on an “After Work” historic tour of Downtown Detroit. My cousin Ashleigh planned the adventure and I was happy to participate.

As a former tour guide for MSU, I know that no one likes the loud mouth, “expert” participant of the group. So, when my guide started the tour by telling us all about “Dennis Gilbert” I decided to keep my mouth shut. Besides, our guide was a history buff. Can’t blame him if he is not up to date on current events.

Even with this hiccup, I still enjoyed walking through downtown and learning a bit of history along the way. Jack and Ryan joined in on the fun, as did my Oma and Grandmama.

Afterward we had dinner at The Fountain Bistro. At which point Oma announced she was happy she had decided to come. She said she had a new, positive feeling about Detroit. If every tour given can sway at least one Oma, then I believe that tour can be deemed a success.

Have you ever taken any of the city tours? Let me know, as I think I am now hooked.

With love from Detroit,

Callie
