Picture Day

My Little Man

Jack goes to daycare in the city two days a week. The daycare has developmentally appropriate daily lesson plans, an amazing rooftop playground, art room, assemblies and much, much more. When I heard that class picture day was coming, I was thrilled. I couldn’t wait to pick out an outfit for the little man. The above look is what I like to call the “Home Alone” aka “Macaulay Culkin.” Unfortunately the best part of the ensemble, his penny loafers and red socks, were not photographed.

In all my excitement, I never prepared myself for the surge of emotions attached to seeing the first of many school photos. Needless to say, I cried in the middle of the daycare lobby. Poor Jack better get use to mom embarrassing him in front of his friends.

I would say third/fourth grade is around the age that you actually believe what your parents do is embarrassing. The first time he is really embarrassed of me, I will lock myself in a closet with a box of tissues, Avalon Bakery sea salt chocolate chip cookies and a Dido CD.

With love from Detroit,

Callie
